Best known as a wildlife artist, Richard Plasschaert has painted in many different subject areas over the years. When I spoke with him, he told me about loving to paint portraits, rivers, landscapes, old houses, barns, trees, etc. in addition to the wildlife scenes. He doesn't paint spring or fall scenes but does usually paint late summer scenes. His days are always blue sky days as you'll see if you look at his oil paintings below. He says he likes to see those every day special moments in time that we all miss while living our busy days. Buyers have echoed those feelings about the paintings they bought.

The title, "Memories Collection," is a good description for the many oil paintings on this page. Dick painted from memories in his life like the time he visited the Redwood Falls, MN area where he saw the stream he painted. You just feel like you were there with him when he saw the stream. The old farm house in "Down the Lane" might be like the one you grew up in or perhaps your grandparents had. Just remember the fun time it was to visit your grandparents in their farm house. Then there is  "Wash Day." What mother didn't get the wash done and hung out early to dry in the sun. I remember. Do you? The "Sheds and Sheds" oil is a scene near Jordon, MN. Today the house is gone but the sheds are still there. Even the "Harvest Time" is full of sheds but this time they depict how corn on the cob was stored before today's big storage bins.

Pictures like Dick's remind how simple and happy the times in the past were. They are a great way to escape from today's stresses for a few minutes as you look deep into the painting to see a happy time. Scroll down memory lane below.
